Storytelling from the back roads of Cook County

Storytelling from the back roads is the collaborative work of the Historical Alliance of Cook County, which includes;

  • Cook County Historical Society – Margaret Hedstrom will deliver a presentation concerning the history and ongoing preservation efforts related to the historic fishing tug, the Nee-Gee.
  • Gunflint Trail Historical Society – David Hakensen talks about his new book, Her Place in the Woods: The Life of Helen Hoover.
  • Schroeder Area Historical Society – Katie O’Gara will read excerpts from the interview of author Mary T. Bell on her book, Cutting Across Time, Logging, Rafting and Milling the Forests of Lake Superior.
  • Tofte Historical Society – Mark Gordon, owner of Amicus Adventure Sailing, a non-profit educational program.

The event will take place Saturday, October 11, from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts in Grand Marais and is free to the public.
