The Chik-Wauk Nature Center is the realization of a long held ambition of the Gunflint Trail Historical Society; having been part of the Chik-Wauk’s name since its conception “The Chik-Wauk Museum and Nature Center”.  The Nature Center now has a beautiful purpose built venue for a wide scope of programming.

Chik-Wauk Nature Center aims to reveal the magic of nature along the Gunflint trail for young and old alike. Chik-Wauk invites you to immerse your senses in all that the natural world has to offer:
Feel the difference between the mammals of the forest, smell the balsam fir, listen for and re-enact the calls of our native frogs and birds, feast you eyes on the diversity of wildflowers and inspect the insects.

The Nature Center is also a treasure trove of guide books and resources to discover and identify the plants and creatures you have encountered in the area. With extensive trails around our 50-acre property on the shores of Lake Saganaga you can explore once you get here too. The Nature Center will provide you with all the tools you need including binoculars, field guides, maps, and even tadpole nets.
