JOE KETTELHODT
Hi! My name is Joe and I’m very excited to be the naturalist with the Naturalist Interpreter for the U.S.D.A. Forest Service and Chik-Wauk Museum & Nature Center!
I’m from Wahkon, MN on the South Shore of Lake Mille Lacs, where I came to love everything that walks, crawls, flies, swims, or grows in and around the land of 10,000 lakes.
My background consists of a degree in Wildlife Biology from Bemidji State University, working at several state parks, assisting wildlife research, and teaching as a naturalist. It’s been a wild ride, but its not over yet! I have a passion for the North Shore’s natural and cultural history and I love finding ways to explore this unique freshwater coast every day. I enjoy angling and backpacking as well as woodcraft and painting with watercolors. In a nutshell: if it’s done outside, I love doing it!
