Tia Parks – Invasive Terrestrial Plants on the Gunflint Trail: Identification, Management, and Planting Responsibly.
The Cook County Invasives Team is a partnership among agencies that work toward the conservation of Cook County’s native species. The group’s purpose is to collaborate on invasive species management and outreach efforts across the county.
During this presentation, we will discuss:
- Identifying Common Noxious Weeds
- Minnesota noxious weeds are annual, biennial, or perennial plants that the commissioner of agriculture designates as having the potential or are known to be detrimental to human or animal health, the environment, public roads, crops, livestock, or other property. Cook County also has an additional list of species that are not listed as state noxious weeds.
- Managing Invasive Species on Your Property
- Best management practices for controlling invasive species on private property and resources are available to you through Cook County.
- Planting Responsibly
- Briefly highlight common gardening species that tend to spread and alternative species that you can plant instead.
