Mark Neuzil is a professor of journalism at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.
He is the author, co-author or editor of eight books, almost all with environmental themes. A former wilderness guide and summer park ranger, he is currently working on a collective biography of nature writers with a Minnesota connection.
Ancient records of canoes are found from the Pacific Northwest to the coast of Maine, Minnesota, and Mexico. If a person from those distant times might encounter a canoe of our day – whether birch bark or dugout or a modern carbon fiber marvel – its silhouette would be instantly recognizable. Mark Neuzil tells the story of that singular American artifact, the canoe, so little changed over time, with such a strong connection to the Arrowhead Region.
All presentations are family-friendly and free to the public.
