June GTHS Annual Membership Meeting

June 10 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Held at Seagull Lake Community Center – 7 Seagull Lake Access Road

The meeting begins promptly at 1:30 p.m. with a brief overview of GTHS business. Following the business meeting, Nancy Seaton will share how and why the Gunflint Trail became a National Scenic Byway. There have been many ways the scenic byway program has positively affected today’s Gunflint Trail corridor.

Nancy Hemstad Seaton has been home on the Gunflint Trail since the late 1970’s. She spent many summers at her family’s cabin and working at Gunflint Northwoods Outfitters and Trail Center. On the day of the 1991 Halloween Storm, she and her husband David purchased Hungry Jack Outfitters. Nancy has been involved with the scenic byway program since 1999. When she’s not busy with the business, her family, the scenic byway committee, or other volunteer projects, she spends time painting and fusing glass in her studio.

Treats and conversations follow (thank you to the friends who provide the home-baked goodies each month). If you would like to bring baked goodies or treats for the monthly meetings please contact Bonnie Schudy at 218-388-9915.

The Gunflint Trail Historical Society has three membership meetings available to all GTHS members. Membership meetings are held on the second Monday of June, July, and August.

The meeting can be viewed by Zoom or in person at the Seagull Lake Community Center; a Zoom link will be sent via email the day before the meeting.
